Global software company Atlassian has appointed Avani Prabhakar as the new Chief People Officer of the organisation.

Prabhakar has been with the Australian-American business since 2019 when she joined as the Head of HR Partners for Asia-Pacific. Since then, she has expanded her role to lead the People M&A team, the Global HRBPs team and the Talent, Employee Relations and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion teams.

Atlassian announced her appointment on Wednesday, with Chief Administrative and Legal Officer Erika Fisher congratulating Prabhakar on the new role.

“In the past four years alone, Atlassian’s headcount has almost doubled, and as we continue to scale at speed I couldn’t think of a better people leader to steer our future growth,” Fisher said.

“Avani is laser-focused on a people strategy that delivers outcomes and drives success across the whole business. She naturally excels at unlocking and emphasising the power of cross-functional teams and partnerships to deliver high-impact results.”

Avani Prabhakar said she is looking forward to commencing the executive position with Atlassian.

“I am thrilled to step into this new role in such an exciting period of growth at Atlassian,” Prabhakar said.

“We aspire to be an employer of choice, and a company where people are given the opportunity to do the best work of their careers.

“That’s no small feat, but it’s an honour to be at the helm of the teams delivering on this ambition for our 11,000+ Atlassians across the world.”

Prabhakar has had more than 20 years’ experience in HR across several international organisations. She has worked in the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and the United States across a range of industries including tech, aviation, insurance, research and analytics.

As Chief People Officer of Atlassian, Prabhakar’s portfolio will cover Human Resources, Employment Relations, Talent, Total Rewards, People Insights, People Mergers and Acquisitions, Team Anywhere and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
